Favorite Friday Five 2.23.18

February 23, 2018

Excited for another round of my favorite things from the week? (I know I am). Get caught up here if you aren’t.

theSkimm

Quick overview: every morning you get an email to your inbox full of 6-8 points of interest, that help you skim the surface when it comes to news.

I’ve read theSkimm for a few years now, and love how it keep me up to date in bite-sized pieces. I get a quick run down of the “big” news, from politics to the Olympics, to celebrities and more. There are always *click here* links so that if I want to dive deeper I can, but I don’t have to be inundated with information I’m not as interested in.

It has a good sense of humor, and allows me to feel a bit more knowledgeable when it comes to what’s going on in the world around me.

I don’t think I would ever tell you that I love soufflé, but dang I love soufflé. This restaurant has three locations in the DFW area, looks like Anthropologie exploded in there, and serves things like “truffle mushroom soufflé.”

We went for my friend Gaby’s birthday and sat at this magical table amongst literal trees and had a great view of the kitchen. One of the (many) hits – they serve the bread with a guillotine

Here’s what I got:

  • Split the “marshmallow soup” (tomato soup with goat cheese)
  • Truffle Mushroom Soufflé
  • Breaaaaaaad
  • At the table, we shared chocolate, strawberry, and pecan dessert soufflé.

It’s definitely not a cheap dinner, but it’s well worth it. I’ll be dreaming of this for a while…

#5SOS3

Can this really be a favorite if the album isn’t even out yet?

Yesterday, one of my favorite bands released their new single and announced a tour so yeah, I’m excited.

You can listen to it HERE. We’ve been waiting forever for new music, and I can’t wait for more!

Leopard Print Tote

I’ve been using my grandma’s “old” leopard print tote from Coach for a few years now, and love how versatile it is. I’m a huge believer in animal print acting as a neutral color, and appreciate how it can turn something as simple as a tote to hold all of my junk into a statement piece.

Mine is a few seasons old so I cant link it specifically, but here are a few that look very similar:

Ariel Bissett

Ariel is a Canadian Book-Tuber (she posts videos about books) who is currently in grad school.

I’ve loved following Ariel for a while because she’s approachable, is absolutely passionate about reading, and is just so dang positive.

Her blog is a good place to find her, as she has a podcast and writes and seems to compile everything here.
