As I’ve mentioned before, I’m a huge fan of Julia from Gal Meets Glam. When she released a collection of dresses and promised more monthly, I couldn’t have been more excited… but then she released that she would be coming to Dallas, my excitement grew even more!
The event was perfectly Julia with the color-scheme, snacks, flowers, and more. I loved being able to see the collection in person – both on the hangers and on the girls around me.
THE EVENT
Gal Meets Glam & Nordstrom did a really great job with the event!
Here are a few highlights:
- rose & lavender macarons
- prosecco & “flowery” drinks
- a fashion artist (see her Instagram HERE)
- free shipping
- incredibly attentive sales associates (shoutout to Stephanie)
- take-home peonies in a cute little vase (see below)

WHAT I TRIED ON
Below are the three dresses I tried on – all fairly true to size.
The Hillary (left)
The purple was just as pictured, and the fabric was delicate and soft to the touch. It had so many great details, like the ties on the sleeves!
However, the dress came off a little too formal for me and I know that I wouldn’t be able to wear it as much as I’d like (as I don’t go to many formal events). It would be a great dress for a wedding or graduation, but I wanted something a little more “everyday.”
The Ardith (middle)
I really liked this dress. Like really. As you’ll see in a moment, this was the dress I ordered.
The Colleen (right)
I wanted to try on this dress to convince myself that I didn’t need it. As it doesn’t meet my office’s dress code, I wouldn’t get much wear out of it, and the color wasn’t as flattering on my skin tone (#palegirlproblems).
WHAT I ORDERED
I wasn’t sold on this dress until I saw it in person. I saw a Nordstrom employee wearing it with a jean jacket and sandals, and it sealed the deal for me before I even tried it on.
As I mentioned above the dresses fit true to size, but I did decide to size up because of the buttons on the front gaping slightly. I also feel like sizing up makes it both more comfortable and casual. It hits me right on the leg near where the model’s does.
I chose this dress also because I could wear it to be more casual with flats or even Converse, but could go a bit fancier with some wedges or heels.
*Note – I sadly ended up returning this dress! Still a little tight in the bust; I’ll wait until another months’ collection drops and I can pick up another favorite.
The great thing about this collection is that every dress is gorgeous. Even the dresses I’m a bit less fond of were worn by girls last night and they looked beautiful in them.
Julia is such a joy! She was just as kind (and beautiful) as she is online, and I’m thankful for the fact that she stood and had conversations with as many people as possible.
We talked briefly about entrepreneurship and she was so incredibly grateful for all the opportunities she has been given! When I told her about how I was loving the event she was quick to acknowledge the hard work of everyone around her.
I loved getting to talk to the girls all around me and hear about their experiences, how they found Julia, and the like. Everyone was so kind, and it reflects just how much Julia’s positive attitude and kindness impacts (and attracts) her followers. Despite the lines, no one was upset or impatient – everyone was just excited to be there.
I can’t wait for the May collection that drops May 15th as well as the many more to come! If the next collections are anything like the first, my wallet isn’t going to be very happy (but my closet definitely will be).
